Fighting Continues In Libya But Russia, US Say They Won`t Support Ceasefire Resolution

With mortar bombs continuing to target a Tripoli suburb on Thursday, the United States and Russia said they could not support a British-drafted United Nations Security Council resolution which would establish a truce in Libya, according to Reuters. Libya has been facing two weeks of an offensive from troops east of the Libyan capital, which is controlled by the internationally recognized government led by Prime Minister Fayez al-Serraj. Moscow objected since the resolution blames eastern Libyan commander Khalifa Hafter for the violence since his Libyan National Army (LNA) recently advanced to the outskirts of Libya two weeks ago.
